Buying New Wheels -
Chrome Wheel Exchange or Repairs

Chrome Wheel Exchange - some dealers or wheel manufacturers offer a Chrome Wheel Exchange program in which the dealer sends you a set of chrome wheels in exchange for your old, non-chromed wheels. Typical steps are as follows:

1 . You order wheels and receive them (usually by courier).

2 . You are charged for the plating and shipping (notice, not for wheels)

3 . You are charged a “holding fee” which is refunded when you ship your old (non-chromed) wheels (this     means that you will also pay to ship your old wheels).

Repairing or Chrome-plating Old Wheels - Tarnished, scratched, rusted, or slightly warped wheels can be repaired at a substantial savings over new wheels. Quality refurbishing dealers will reset to true and then strip and polish the old wheel prior to a multi-step chroming process. Refurbished wheels should look and ride like new wheels and have a finish of comparable lasting quality.

Lug Nuts and Valve Stems - especially for exchanged wheels, ask about matching lug nuts – you don’t want your new shiny chrome wheels fastened to your shiny car with your rusty “old lug nuts”. Ditto for new valve stems.

Warranties are dealer specific, so first check their websites to find out about dealer warranties and return policies.
