Tire or Wheel Problems –
Results of Improper Tire Pressure

Why Proper Tire Pressure is Important -
Tire (or air) pressure affects a car’s performance in several ways. The most common way to damage tires is improper inflation – either over or under. This is especially true for high-performance and low-profile tires. As tires lose pressure over time the shape changes, resulting in irregular tread wear, poor vehicle handling and traction, and decreased gas mileage.

Under-inflated tires build up excessive heat – above their UTQG rating – which can cause them to blow out without warning.

Over-inflated tires have a high-pressure build up resulting in a rougher ride and possible valve burst, which would result in a blow out.

Proper tire maintenance is usually a requirement for tire dealers to honor their warranties; this may include tire rotation. It is relatively easy for a tire professional to determine whether or not the tires have been driven with improper inflation.
